I began buying guitar and music theory books in My collection is very large. The Repository by Lateef is one of my all time favorites. Just open it to any random page, play slow and accurate and you will find yourself in completely different parts of the musical universe. The only book I have that is similar to it is the Slonimsky Thesaurus, which I also highly recommend. Guitar players, you will need to be able to read music, there is no tab. Most of the music is treble clef and playable on guitar. This book will give you a lot of ideas for composition and riffs to jam on.
